Football in Guinea-Bissau

03 March 2012

Dulombi, Guinea-Bissau

Youths play football on a field that was once part of a military barracks, in the village of Dulombi, Galomaro, Guinea-Bissau.

The barracks housed members of the Portuguese military, before Guinea-Bissau gained its independence in 1974.

Football is the most popular amateur sport in the world, and some of Africa’s stars in the sport began their careers in just such informal settings.

Location

Dulombi, Guinea Bissau
