World Press Photo receives support from the Dutch Postcode Lottery, the largest lottery in the Netherlands, which supports such causes as UNICEF, the Red Cross and the WWF. Since its foundation, the Dutch Postcode Lottery has dispensed almost EUR 4 billion to the 89 causes it supports.
During a festive event on 13 February 2013, World Press Photo was presented with a check for EUR 500,000. On this occasion World Press Photo was represented by managing director Michiel Munneke. Munneke said: "The contribution of the Dutch Postcode Lottery allows us to achieve our goals of supporting and advancing high standards in photojournalism and documentary photography worldwide. One of the many initiatives that the lottery’s contribution enabled us to organize is Reporting Change, a program run jointly with Human Rights Watch which trains and promotes strong, professional and self-reliant visual journalism communities in North Africa. We are very grateful for the support we have received from the Dutch Postcode Lottery since 2004.”
