World Press Photo receives support from the Dutch Postcode Lottery, the largest lottery in the Netherlands, which supports such causes as UNICEF, the Red Cross and the WWF. In 2010, the lottery donated EUR 270 million to the 83 good causes which are associated with the lottery.
During a festive event on 9 February 2012, World Press Photo was presented with a check for EUR 500,000. On this occasion World Press Photo was represented by managing director Michiel Munneke. Munneke said: "This contribution gives our foundation a solid base to further expand our activities, and realize an even more global exhibition touring program. All our activities are aimed at promoting the highest standards in photojournalism and creating awareness for the importance of a free and unrestricted exchange of information."
