We help nurture the talent and passion of photojournalists who create stories that inspire a greater understanding of the world around us. World Press Photo grants offer a direct incentive to visual journalists who are facing challenges to produce and disseminate in the current market. We practically support photographers in the creation of new work and offer a platform to share the stories and issues with the world. Below is more information about the ongoing Tim Hetherington Grant and the one-off Follow Your Convictions Grant. More information will be added as we expand the grants program.
Tim Hetherington Grant
The Tim Hetherington Grant is an annual grant awarded to a photographer to finalize a project on a human rights theme. The grant is a joint initiative of World Press Photo and Human Rights Watch and celebrates the legacy of photojournalist and filmmaker Tim Hetherington.
Follow Your Convictions Grant
The Follow Your Convictions Grant was a one-off grant offered to the award winners from the 2011 photo contest and presented finally to Italian photographer Davide Monteleone for his project proposal Reversed Seæ.
