Hichem Bekhti (Algeria, 1970) first qualified as a doctor, but the state of his country’s system made him decide to turn a page in his career. In 1996, he started a company specializing in web development and consultancy. Having become aware of the huge lack of information about Algeria during numerous trips into the interior, he developed a web-based guide to his country, vitaminedz.com, which receives hundreds of thousands of visitors per month. Bekhti also works for this website as a photojournalist, as he did for the official site of his hometown, Tlemcen, when it was Capital of Islamic Culture. His work is included in a traveling exhibition on Algerian lighthouses.
