Ovie Carter (USA), joined the Chicago Tribune in April 1969 and retired in 2004. Together with reporter William Mullen, he won the Pulitzer Prize in 1975 for The Faces of Hunger. Carter's work has earned him many other awards, including the Overseas Press Club Award and he received the Chicago Tribune's Edward Scott Beck Award five times. Upon retirement, the NABJ Region V, Chicago, honored him with its Legends in Their Own Time award. Together with sociologist, Professor Mitchell Duneier, he has published two books - SIDEWALK and SLIM'S TABLE.
