Originally from South Africa, Jonathan Klein spent most of his life in England and now lives in Seattle, Washington. Before co-founding Getty Images with Mark Getty ten years ago, he headed the media industry group of the London-based Hambros Bank. Since its foundation in 1995, Jonathan has been CEO of Getty Images and as such instrumental in formulating and implementing the strategy that made the company a leader in the imagery business. He has driven the consolidation of the visual content industry through some 30 acquisitions, their integration and the industry's migration from analog to digital. Jonathan has been a leading advocate of bringing the visual content industry into the sphere of e-commerce and has driven Getty Images' focus on a passion for pictures. This passion extends to all aspects of imagery, from film to creative photography, from archives to award-winning news, sport and entertainment photojournalism. In recent years he has moved the company on from its stock photography roots to the role of major participant in editorial imagery. Jonathan serves on the boards of Getty Investments, the Global Business Coalition on HIV/AIDS, RealNetworks and Seattle's Contemporary Theater.
