Spencer Platt (37) is from Westport, Connecticut. After graduating from Clark University in 1994 with a degree in English, he worked at numerous newspapers as a photographer. Platt joined Getty Images in 2000 as a staff photographer. Besides domestic stories, Platt covers international assignments in Iraq, Liberia, Congo, Indonesia and Lebanon, among others. Platt's work has received awards in both the Pictures of the Year International and the NPPA Best of Photojournalism contests, for work in Liberia and Albania. He recently won first place in the Atlanta Photojournalism Seminar contest for his coverage of the war in Lebanon.
