Nina Berman (46), USA, has been a documentary photographer since 1989, specializing in the American political and social landscape. She has received awards and grants from the New York Foundation for the Arts, the World Press Photo foundation, the Open Society Institute Documentary Photography Fund, and Pictures of the Year International. Berman is the author of Purple Hearts - Back from Iraq, published in 2004, and is on the faculty of the International Center of Photography in New York City, her hometown.
