Lissette Lemus (30) studied public relations and communications at the Technological University of El Salvador, and has participated in a photojournalism workshop in Gijón, Spain, under the auspices of the University of Oviedo, and in the Maine Photography Workshop in the USA. She began her career as a photojournalist with the evening newspaper Co Latino, and in 2002 joined the picture department at El Diario de Hoy, one of El Salvador's leading dailies.
Over her ten-year career, Lemus has covered subjects as diverse as the visit of Pope John Paul II to Guatemala and a special report on Los Diablos Rojos del México baseball team. She has received a number of national and international awards, including being named 2003 photojournalist of the year by the Asociación de Periodistas de El Salvador.
