Tom Kennedy, USA, is a visual journalist with extensive print and online experience. He heads the visual journalism consulting company, Kennedy Multimedia LLC. His previous positions include eleven years as managing editor for multimedia at Washingtonpost.com, and ten years as director of photography at the National Geographic Society, where he directed the photographic division which produced all still photography for the society, with primary focus on National Geographic magazine.
At Washingtonpost.com, Kennedy conceptualized and developed the multimedia section and created the first documentary video team to produce stories for a newspaper-based website. He has created, directed and edited visual journalism projects that have earned Pulitzer prizes, as well as EMMY, Peabody, and Edward R. Murrow broadcasting awards.
Kennedy serves as a journalism and communications advisor to a number of US universities, is a consultant to international media companies, and has been a featured speaker at journalism conferences and media workshops worldwide.
