Women wait beside the road between Gori and the Georgian capital Tbilisi, having fled after Ossetians entered their village. Fighting broke out between the Georgian army and separatist forces in the breakaway
region of South Ossetia, in August. Russian troops entered the region, which is home to many ethnic Russians, in support of the separatists. As the conflict spread beyond the borders of South Ossetia, people fled their homes.
