Der Matador Julio Aparicio wird im Mai bei einem Stierkampf in Madrid von einem Stier aufgespießt, nachdem er den Halt verloren hat. Ein Horn des Tieres durchbohrt seine Kehle und den Mundboden, durchsticht ihm die Zunge und bricht ihm den Kiefer. Nach einer einstündigen Notoperation im medizinischen Zentrum an der Stierkampfarena wurde Aparicio zur weiteren Behandlung ins Krankenhaus verlegt. Er erholte sich und kehrte im August in die Arena zurück.

Matador Julio Aparicio is gored by a bull after losing his footing during a bullfight in Madrid. One of the animal’s horns pierced his throat and punched through the bottom of his mouth, puncturing his tongue and fracturing his jaw. After an emergency one-hour operation in the medical center at the bullring, Aparicio was transferred to hospital for further surgery. He recovered, and returned to the ring in August.

El diestro Julio Aparicio sufrió una grave cornada tras tropezar en una corrida de toros en Madrid, en mayo. Unos de los pitones del toro le atravesó el cuello y salió en dirección ascendente por la boca, reventándole la lengua y fracturándole la mandíbula. Tras ser operado de urgencia en la enfermería de la plaza de toros durante una hora, Aparicio fue trasladado al hospital para ser intervenido quirúrgicamente. Se recuperó y volvió a torear en agosto.

Il s’est rétabli et était de retour dans l’arène en août.
