The Netherlands’ Demy de Zeeuw is accidentally kicked in the face by Uruguay’s Martin Caceres during a World Cup semi-final soccer match in Cape Town, South Africa on 6 July.

Der Niederländer Demy de Zeeuw wird am 6. Juli im Halbfinale der Fußballweltmeisterschaft in Kapstadt, Südafrika, versehentlich von dem Uruguayer Martin Caceres ins Gesicht getreten. Die Niederländer gewannen das Spiel mit 3:2. De Zeeuw kam mit Verdacht auf Kieferbruch ins Krankenhaus. Er konnte später zu seiner Mannschaft zurückkehren, wurde jedoch nicht für das Endspiel aufgestellt, das die Niederländer mit 0:1 gegen die Spanier verloren.

The Dutch won the match 3-2. De Zeeuw was taken to hospital with a suspected broken jaw. He was later able to rejoin his teammates but was not selected to play in the final, when the Dutch lost 0-1 to Spain.

El holandés Demy de Zeeuw recibe una patada en la cara, no intencionada, en una acción con el uruguayo Martín Cáceres durante la semifinal del Mundial en Ciudad del Cabo, Sudáfrica, el 6 de julio. La selección holandesa ganó el partido por 3-2. De Zeeuw fue trasladado al hospital con una posible fractura de mandíbula. He completed an honors degree in social anthropology at the University of Cape Town in 1986 and then began to work as a freelance photographer and occasional writer for a variety of news and community organizations. Hutchings covered the political conflict in South Africa in the 1980s, leading up to the unbanning of political organizations, the release of Nelson Mandela and the end of apartheid rule.
