Alvaro Ybarra Zavala took a socially related issue as his starting point, that of the marginalization of mentally and physically disabled people in India. The Kuderu center, in the central Indian state of Andhra Pradesh, is one of the few facilities in the country offering specialist care. At Kudera, people’s disabilities are not seen as barriers to leading a life of fulfillment and dignity.

Alvaro Ybarra Zavala, Spain, is an independent photographer represented by Reportage by Getty Images.
