An international jury of leading photojournalism professionals will begin judging entries at the World Press Photo office in Amsterdam on Saturday, 1 February. The annual photo contest is the leading international contest in visual journalism. The winners of the 57th edition will be announced on Friday, 14 February 2014, at 14.00 (CET, GMT+1).

World Press Photo announces today the amendments to its 57th annual photo contest: there are some changes in the internal procedures to accommodate evolving practices in visual journalism.

The 2014 World Press Photo contests are accepting entries as of today. World Press Photo invites all professional visual journalists worldwide to participate in the 57th annual photojournalism contest and 4th annual multimedia contest. The final deadline for submissions is 15 January 2014 for both contests.

World Press Photo is proud to present the jury members of the 57th photo contest and welcomes David Campbell as the new secretary. This group of internationally recognized professionals in the field of photojournalism and documentary photography will gather in Amsterdam beginning of February next year, headed by jury chair Gary Knight.

The book features the photo essays made by the 12 participants of the annual Joop Swart Masterclass, around the theme of “hope”. It offers an insight into the newcomers’ talent and passion, as well as a foretaste of the future of documentary storytelling.
