World Press Photo is proud to publish the results of a pioneering global study into the emergence and development of multimedia in visual storytelling. The findings will be presented by research director Dr David Campbell, as part of a multimedia-themed program during the 2013 World Press Photo Awards Days, on Thursday 25 April, at Felix Meritis in Amsterdam.

The international jury of the 56th annual World Press Photo Contest has selected a picture by Paul Hansen of the Swedish daily Dagens Nyheter as the World Press Photo of the Year 2012.

The winning productions of the third annual contest for multimedia productions will be announced on 1 February 2013 and can be viewed on the World Press Photo website as of 16.00 CET.

The third annual contest for multimedia productions will take place from 26 to 31 January 2013 in Amsterdam. An international, six-member jury of experts chaired by Keith W. Jenkins, will judge the entries. The winners will be announced on 1 February 2013, and can be viewed on the World Press Photo website as of 16.00 CET.

World Press Photo and Human Rights Watch are pleased to announce that the Spanish photographer Fernando Moleres has been awarded the 2012 Tim Hetherington Grant, set up to celebrate the legacy of the photojournalist and filmmaker killed in Libya in 2011. The annual grant of €20,000, intended to support a photographer in completing an existing project on a human rights theme, was given for Moleres’ project entitled “Waiting for an opportunity”.
