Yesterday, at the opening of the World Press Photo exhibition in London, Canon signed a three-year renewal of its worldwide partnership with the World Press Photo Foundation. The new contract also marks the 20th anniversary for the two organizations working together to empower photographers to tell a story.

World Press Photo is pleased to present the full list of jury members of the 2013 Multimedia Contest. Led by Keith W. Jenkins, this group of visual professionals will be reviewing the third annual multimedia contest entries. Judging will take place at the World Press Photo office in Amsterdam from 26 January until 1 February 2013. The results of the contest will be announced on 1 February 2013.

World Press Photo is happy to present the jury chairs for the three themed categories Sports, Nature, and Portraits. Bill Frakes, Staffan Widstrand, and Elisabeth Biondi will work alongside jury chair Gary Knight during the 2013 World Press Photo Contest.

World Press Photo announces today a new set up for its third annual Multimedia Contest. Three new categories have been introduced to accommodate evolving practices in visual journalism and documentary storytelling.

World Press Photo is happy to present the second edition of the book Next#02, which brings the essays made by the 12 participants of the 19th Joop Swart Masterclass, built this year around the theme 'Trust;. The book offers an insight into the newcomers’ talent and passion, as well as a foretaste of the future of documentary storytelling. Next#02 will be available in bookstores as of November 2012.

World Press Photo is pleased to announce that the jury of the 2013 World Press Photo Contest will be chaired by Gary Knight, UK, founder photographer of VII Photo Agency. He will be supported by an international jury of 18 leading professionals in the field of photojournalism.

The international jury of the 2nd World Press Photo Multimedia Contest has given the First Prize to the production ‘Afrikaner Blood’ by Elles van Gelder and Ilvy Njiokiktjien from the Netherlands. The multimedia production follows young white Afrikaner teenagers in South Africa who attend a holiday camp set up to teach them self-defense and how to combat a perceived black enemy.
