Special exhibition: People, Power

Lieu d’Europe, Strasbourg

This special exhibition documents protest and people power, featuring work awarded in the World Press Photo Contests from 1957.

The independent juries of the World Press Photo Contests have over the years awarded many pictures of protest, starting with Douglas Martin’s photograph of Dorothy Counts, a symbol of resistance against racism. The exhibition shows images that, like Charlie Cole’s picture of Tiananmen Square, have become global symbols of people power and celebrates the work of professional photographers who are showing us the stories that matter.
