Keynote lecture: Cristina de Middel

12 May 2022

Get to know more about the work and experience of pioneering photographer Cristina de Middel in a live-streamed keynote lecture as part of the World Press Photo’s Winners’ Program.

From 11-14 May 2022, World Press Photo will host an exclusive program in Amsterdam for the winning photographers of the 2022 Contest. The program, organized for the first time this year, is tailor-made and rests on three main pillars: recognition, networking, and visibility. In addition, to inspire and connect to our community, we're delighted to invite our online audience to join part of the program through this live-streamed lecture by Cristina de Middel.

Cristina de Middel is a Spanish photographer whose work investigates photography’s ambiguous relationship to truth, blending documentary and conceptual photographic practices. After a successful ten-year career as a photojournalist, her first project The Afronauts (2012), about a space program failed attempt in Zambia, brought her great fame. She has since published more than 13 books, has exhibited her work worldwide, and has won many prizes. She is a member of Magnum Photos and is based between Mexico and Brazil.
