Abimael Guzmán, leader of the Peru's Sendero Luminoso (Shining Path) guerrilla movement, is kept in a cage after being taken prisoner. His guerrillas murdered thousands of people in the name of the proletarian revolution. Guzmán, a former philosophy professor, was sentenced to life imprisonment by a military tribunal.
