Kuito, Angola Landmine victims at a center for children suffering war trauma. After decades of war, Angola was one of the most heavily mined countries in the world. It was estimated that planted mines numbered nine to 15 million, about one mine for every man, woman and child in the country. To date, some 70,000 Angolans, 8,000 of them children, have been disabled by exploding mines.
