Statement following Charleroi mayor’s letter to World Press Photo

In a letter sent to World Press Photo on 25 February, the Belgian city of Charleroi’s mayor called on the organization to consider withdrawing the award given to Italian photographer Giovanni Troilo. World Press Photo is currently investigating the photo story, as it does with all prizewinning pictures, and is in touch with the necessary parties. We will update this page with further information when it becomes available.
