Born in Siberia in 1964, Oleg Klimov studied at Kazan University and majored in astrophysics. After a change of heart and career, he became a photographer at a local newspaper.
Since 1991 he has worked as a photographer for the Dutch influential daily newspaper NRC Handelsblad. He covered all war conflicts in the USSR and Eastern Europe.
Today, he is finishing his project on the Russian water borders along the shores of Russia. He has worked with major publications such as The Washington Post and The Times, and published several books.
