Darcy Padilla is a photojournalist, documentary photographer, and lecturer. Her awards include a Guggenheim Fellowship, W. Eugene Smith Grant, Alexia Foundation Grant, Open Society Institute Fellowship, Getty Images Grant, Photoreporter Grant, Alicia Patterson Foundation Fellowship, and three World Press Photo awards.
She is one of the first recipients of the World Press Photo award for Long-Term Projects. Her project Family Love, recently published as a book, follows the life of Julie Baird and her family for 21 years—an intimate look at poverty, AIDS, and social issues. Darcy is a member of Agence Vu in Paris and lives in San Francisco.
