Marizilda Cruppe is a Brazilian documentary photographer. She worked for 16 years as a staff photographer based in Rio de Janeiro for O Globo newspaper, part of the largest media group in South America. Since 2011 she has worked as an independent photographer with a focus on social inequality, social justice, human rights, the environment, healthcare and gender. In 2005 she co-founded EVE Photographers collective along with five other female photographers from different countries. She was jury member of Images to Stop Tuberculosis Photo Contest (2009/10/11), Estação Imagem Mora Contest, Portugal (2011) and the World Press Photo Contest (2010/11). She has also taken photographs for Greenpeace, ICRC, Oxfam and MSF. Her photos have been published in the New York Times, The Guardian, National Geographic France and Brazilian magazines including Trip, TPM and GQ. In recent years she has been a photo workshop mentor in partnership with The World Press Photo Foundation, TUFTS University and Open Society Foundations. Marizilda is the creator and co-founder of the newly YVY Brazilian Women Image Makers.
