Emilio Morenatti

Emilio Morenatti is a photojournalist for The Associated Press based in Barcelona, Spain.

With a master's degree in photojournalism and documentary photography from the University of Art in London, Morenatti currently runs the photography department in Spain and Portugal for The Associated Press in Barcelona, Spain.

Over the course of his career, Morenatti has visited over 50 countries and covered history-shaping events, remaining based for years in countries such as Afghanistan, Palestine territories, Gaza and Pakistan.

In 2021, he was awarded a Pulitzer Prize for Feature Photography for a series of photographs about the elderly in Spain during the COVID-19 pandemic, and in 2009, was a Pulitzer finalist for coverage of the war in Afghanistan. He has won three Photographer Of The Year awards from Pictures of the Year International, alongside the NPPA and The Atlanta Seminar, the National Headliner Awards, the Oliver S. Gramling Journalism Awards, The Clarion International Photography Feature Photography and the Overseas Press Club, amongst others.
