Ilona Szwarc

Ilona Szwarc was born and raised in Warsaw, Poland. In 2008, she immigrated to New York City, USA, where she lives and works. She has had solo exhibitions at Foley Gallery in New York City, Claude Samuel Gallery in Paris and Maison de la Photographie in Lille, France, and has been shown in group shows internationally – in London, Bilbao, Lodz, Chicago and New York. Szwarc was awarded by World Press Photo in 2013 and PDN Annual in 2012. She was also chosen as one of PDN’s 30 New and Emerging Photographers to Watch in 2014.

Her work has been published by numerous publications worldwide including Time magazine, The Sunday Times Magazine, The Telegraph Magazine, Surface China, and PDN. Her work has also received significant exposure online, featured in The New York Times Lens Blog, The Huffington Post, MSNBC Today.com, GUP, Feature Shoot, and Le Journal de la Photographie. Her projects “American Girls” and “Rodeo Girls” have received worldwide recognition, having been highlighted in The New York Times, The Telegraph, MSNBC Today.com, and The Huffington Post, among others.
