Oualid Khelifi is an Algiers-based freelance journalist and reporter. Mainly focused on North and West African affairs, he has worked for international media, looking particularly at geopolitics, security and social change. He has also produced and contributed to cultural pieces on music, theatre and film.
A first-class graduate from University of Bristol and University of California, he operated in several industries before switching to visual journalism.
Oualid studied in the UK and the US upon the award of a scholarship, lived & travelled in Latin America, South East Asia, Central Europe, West Africa and the Sahel before deciding to move back to Algeria and co-found Afreekyama multimedia collective, a collaborative platform for visual journalists in the Maghreb and elsewhere in the continent.
