Mags King

Mags King has been a photographic editor for over twenty years. She lives in Sydney, Australia and is the managing photo editor at The Sydney Morning Herald.

Originally from London, United Kingdom, King moved to Sydney in 2003 and has been a photo editor for Australia's oldest publishing newspaper for over fifteen years. She manages an award-winning photographic department with some of the country’s most respected photojournalists. 

Mags King is a curator, a producer, creative director, mentor and has judged for numerous high-profile photographic awards including the Walkley Awards, Amnesty International, Indian Photographic Festival, Head On Photo Festival, Australian Life for the City of Sydney, Sun Studios Emerging Talent, Kennedy Awards, ANZ Photo book and Photo Collective. 

For the past eleven years, she has curated the masthead’s annual photographic exhibition ‘Photos1440’ at the NSW State Library. She produced and edited the photographic book Sydney Lives for the publication’s 190th birthday, highlighting the rich visual archives of The Sydney Morning Herald

Mags King has been on the advisory board of the Walkley Foundation. She recently received a Walkley award, as part of a team, for producing an interactive visual journey through Ukraine.
