Dutch Postcode Lottery

World Press Photo receives support from the Dutch Postcode Lottery, the largest lottery in the Netherlands, which supports such causes as UNICEF, the Red Cross and the WWF.

Since 1989, the Dutch Postcode Lottery has been raising funds to support organizations working for a fairer, greener world. Fifty percent of its proceeds go to charity. In 2018, the Dutch Postcode Lottery dispensed a record-breaking 357 million euros to the 112 causes it supports.

At the annual Goed Geld Gala event on 15 February 2018, the World Press Photo Foundation was presented with a cheque for EUR 500,000. To receive the cheque, World Press Photo was represented by managing director Lars Boering, who said:

“We at the World Press Photo Foundation are very grateful to the Dutch Postcode Lottery and its participants for their ongoing support. With this support, we can connect the world to the stories that matter. For the past 13 years their contributions have helped us develop and promote strong and independent visual media that we connect to an annual worldwide audience of more than 4 million people with our touring exhibition, and billions online. We are also able to train visual journalists and storytellers globally and support them with grants and publicity. We look forward to many more years of collaboration with the Dutch Postcode Lottery and are proud to be one of their beneficiaries.”
