Exhibition Production Internship

40 hours a week | Hybrid | start 12 January 2026 | 6 months | Amsterdam

The World Press Photo is a non-profit organization based in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, organizing a yearly photojournalism contest, exhibitions, and education programs. It was founded in 1955 when a group of Dutch photographers organized a contest (“World Press Photo”) to expose their work to an international audience. Our annual contest rewards the best in photojournalism and documentary photography. Our worldwide exhibitions and online channels with over 2 million followers showcase stories that make people stop, think, feel and act. We are a global platform connecting professionals and audiences through trustworthy visual journalism and storytelling.

The Curatorial Affairs Team at World Press Photo is currently looking for an enthusiastic Exhibition Production intern to collaborate with us for 6 months, starting from 12 January 2026.

Exhibition Production Internship (1 fte) - 6 month

The Curatorial Affairs Team currently consists of four people responsible for producing and coordinating exhibitions worldwide. The team’s main focus is the annual exhibition, which travels to multiple international locations each year. In addition, we produce an annual yearbook, coordinate the logistics of all traveling content, and provide translated didactic materials for our global exhibition partners. We also develop thematic exhibitions drawn from the World Press Photo archive, a rich but underused resource due to dispersed data and limited accessibility. At the moment, we are implementing a digital asset management system to make the full archive accessible to staff and researchers, aiming to complete cataloguing by the end of 2026.
We have a very short production lead time and therefore are looking for an eager and hard-working individual who is motivated, has a hands-on approach, and most importantly, is excited to learn about exhibition production from behind the scenes.

Each year, our exhibitions travel to 80 locations in 40 countries around the world. The internship will provide insight into many different aspects of the exhibition process, from curation of exhibitions based on the winning work, to developing the touring exhibition that begins in early May. As a full member of the team, you will gain hands-on experience and work towards the delivery of the team’s mission, with a special focus on the production of the flagship exhibition in Amsterdam and the annual traveling exhibition.
