Internship Programs Team | 32–40 hours per week | 1 December 2025 – 30 June 2026 | Amsterdam

For seven decades, World Press Photo has been working from its home in Amsterdam as an independent, non-profit organization. Our mission is to support photojournalists, documentary photographers, and audiences worldwide to deepen understanding, promote dialogue, and inspire action.

The Programs department organizes the annual World Press Photo Contest, Winners’ Program, education initiatives, and outreach activities. We are looking for two motivated interns to join our team for seven months, working on the annual contest, judging, education and the Winners’ Program. During your internship, you will work with a range of professionals from across the photographic community, from photojournalists and photo editors to curators and festival directors. This is an opportunity to gain unique behind-the-scenes experience in the production of one of the most recognized photo contests in the world and its accompanying educational programs. 

Your tasks 

As Program Interns, you will work together on all activities in this dynamic period, including:

Contest and judging support
  • Providing support for contest entrants
  • Processing registrations and contest entries
  • Setting up and assisting with online and live judging sessions
  • Supporting communications around the contest, including mailings and the announcement of winners
Winners' Program and event production
  • Supporting the planning and implementation of the Winners’ Program in May
  • Assisting with invitations and RSVPs
  • Preparing materials and coordinating with winners, partners, and suppliers
  • Supporting the execution of workshops, award show, and public events
Education and outreach support
  • Assisting in the preparation of education and outreach activities
  • Conducting research to support projects
  • Providing general administrative and inbox support

Your profile

  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s program
  • Assisting in the preparation of education and outreach activities
  • Demonstrated interest in photography, media, journalism, or arts & culture
  • Self-starting, well organized, and detail-oriented
  • Motivated, flexible, and able to work under pressure and deadlines
  • Strong interpersonal and intercultural communication skills
  • Fluent in English (written and spoken); additional languages are an asset
  • Comfortable with digital platforms and quick to adapt to new tools
    Living in or near Amsterdam

This internship runs from 1 December 2025 to 30 June 2026 (32-40 hours a week). During peak contest and event period, occasional evening or weekend work may be required, with compensation time provided. 


This position is open only to EU citizens or individuals with a valid EU work permit.
