Gabous Yahya was born in 1982 in Paris. As the son of an audiovisual technology professor, his passion for photography started at a very young age.
When he was just 14 years old, Gabous began his career at the Tunisian Federation of Amateur Filmmakers, where he received his first photography course and learned the techniques of shooting, developing and printing.
He earned his bachelor’s degree in experimental sciences and continued his studies in information science and documentation until he received his master’s degree from the Higher Institute of Documentation in Manouba.
After graduating, he joined the team of photojournalists at Grand Maghreb Medias, which publishes a range of newspapers and magazines in Arabic and French.
His photography assignments have included national events in Tunis as well as other parts of the country. His picture of an old man crossing the street won an award in the 2012 Canon Dynamic World competition. Yahya plans to launch his own agency, which he will call Ndhar.
