About

Jean Madeyski

Morocco

Jean Madeyski (Morocco, 1967) grew up in a village where, from the age of 11, photography kept him from being bored. Until he was 18 he developed his own images in the darkroom, but he tired of the photo studios he frequented. For years, his passion for photography took a backseat, but he returned to it in his early thirties.

He compares himself to an analyst in search of the intimate, the hidden, using the photo lens as both a weapon and a harness, to attack and to defend. Madeyski explored a whole range of photographic disciplines. With his emotions as fuel, he seeks what is intense and essential, in himself as well as his clients. Now in his forties, he feels that photography has profoundly changed who he is.
