Marie-Ann Yemsi

In 2005, she founded Agent Créatif(s), an agency for contemporary art that promotes emerging artists from the African continent and its diaspora. She works with public and private institutions, in Europe and Africa, developing their actions in the field of contemporary creation, particularly on the African continent.

As an exhibition curator, she is interested in collaborative artistic practices, as well as those that focus on themes such as memory, history, gender and identity. She has been the curator at several exhibitions, including ‘African Odysseys’ at the Brass (Brussels) in 2015, ‘The Days that Comes’ at the Galerie des Galeries (Paris) in 2017, and ‘A Silent Lines, Lives Here’ at the Palais de Tokyo (Paris).

She was also the Curator of ‘Afrotopia’, the 11th edition of the Rencontres de Bamako, African Biennale of Photography in Mali, December 2017 – January 2018.

Since 2017, Marie-Ann Yemsi has served as a member of the Board of Directors of the Palais de Tokyo, Center for Contemporary Artistic Creation (Paris). Yemsi is a member of the artistic committee at Sam Art Projects, a nonprofit organization based in Paris, since 2015.
