Mário Cruz


Mário Cruz was born in 1987, in Lisbon, Portugal.

Cruz is  an independent photographer focused on social injustice and human rights issues. 

He studied photojournalism at Cenjor -  Professional School of Journalism and in 2006, he started to cooperate with LUSA – Portuguese News Agency / EPA – European Pressphoto Agency. 

“Recent Blindness” (Winner of Estacao Imagem Mora 2014 Award), “Roof” (Winner of Magnum 30 Under 30) and “Talibes, Modern Day Slaves” (Contemporary Issues first-prize winner at World Press Photo).

His work has been published in Newsweek, International New York Times, Washington Post, CNN, CTXT.es and Neue Zürcher Zeitung.
