Rita Leistner

She is known for The Tree Planters, Unembedded: Four Independent Photojournalists on the War in Iraq, The Edward Curtis Project, Looking for Marshall McLuhan in Afghanistan and Levant Trilogy: Lebanon, Israel, Palestine 2006-2015. 

Her photographs have been published widely, exhibited internationally and are in collections such as the Canadian War Museum, the Royal Ontario Museum, the Comanche National Museum and the Musée du Nouveau Monde in France.

The Tree Planters was a finalist for the 2017 Robert Gardner Photography Fellowship at Harvard.

Rita has an MA in comparative literature, has planted over 500,000 trees in Canada and is represented by the Stephen Bulger Gallery.
