Sergey Karpov

He graduated from Moscow Power Engineering Institute (National Research University) in 2009. In 2007 he began to work as a photo correspondent. In 2011 he completed Sergey Maksimishin's course "Photography in magazine" and started to work as a photojournalist with Reuters, AP, RIA Novosti and other media. In 2012-2013 he worked as a staff photographer for Russian News Agency TASS.

In 2013 Sergey started Mediacrowd, a project aimed at exploring new media and new forms of the visual narrative. In 2015 together, with Sergey Prostakov he launched a project "Last 30", which examines the state of post-Soviet society from 1985 to 2015.

In 2015 he began to collaborate with media portal Takie Dela and created a special division in Takie Dela and gathered a team to make multimedia projects. Sergey works in Takie Dela to this day.

In 2017, a multimedia project made by Takie Dela received a prestigious award at festival in Perpignan Visa d'Or for the Best Digital News Story.

Sergey's main interests are the exploration of a regional identity of post-Soviet cities, the study of historical memory, social integrations into a world of new media and new opportunities and horizons of the visual narrative.
