She graduated as a photojournalist from The Danish School of Media and Journalism (2008) and was awarded with honorable mentions at the Danish Picture of the Year in 2016 and 2017. She was also nominated for a Cavling award, the Danish Pulitzer Prize, in 2016.

Sigrid is a visiting lecturer at The Danish School for Media and Journalism, DIS Copenhagen and Copenhagen Film and Photography School.

She believes in the importance of consistently fighting for visual storytelling in a changing media landscape. She strives to commission and produce outstanding documentary photography, often with an eye to experimental forms and expressions.

She also co-founded a newsletter on Danish documentary photography.

When not working with photography, she spends much of her time on the island of Amager on the outskirts of Copenhagen, with her husband Emil Ryge and their two children.
