Jonas Kakó

Jonas Kakó (b. 1992) is a documentary photographer based in Hannover, Germany.

Through his photographic practice, Kakó looks at the effects of the climate crisis, focusing on the individual fates of people who are already suffering from the consequences of global warming and whose existence is threatened. 

Since 2013, he has been studying photojournalism and documentary photography at the University of Hannover, Germany.

His work has been awarded at Bar Tur Photo Award and POY (Environmental Vision Award Finalist Winner).

Kakó’s freelance work has appeared in National Geographic, Stern, Vice, de Volkskrant and the Neue Zürcher Zeitung, among others and he has worked on assignments for NZZ and Stern.
