Ali Ali was born in the Gaza Strip, in the Palestinian Territories. By the time he was 17 he was working freelance for EPA European Pressphoto Agency, joining their Gaza bureau two years later.
Since then, Ali has been based in Gaza covering news events and the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, in particular the 2008/2009 Gaza War, and the Hamas coup.
His work has been published in The New York Times, Time, The Guardian, The Los Angeles Times, Newsweek, The Independent, El País, Süddeutsche Zeitung, Frankfurter Rundschau, De Volkskrant, Libération, and more.
