Antonin Bahensky

Czech photographer Antonin Bahensky (Prague, 1933) trained as a hairdresser and hairstylist before becoming a professional photographer. In 1958, he started as an assistant in the photo laboratory of the illustrated sports weekly Stadion, to become a staff photographer in 1960. In 1964, he joined Signal magazine as their chief photographer. Bahensky mostly covered car and motorcycle races, and he was the first Czech photographer to cover the Grand Prix Formula 1 races. He was also one of the first Czech photographs to use color in his applied art photos.
