Spencer Platt

Spencer Platt grew up in Westport, Connecticut. He graduated from Clark University with a degree in English. During university he worked as a features writer at the college paper. But his friend, photojournalist Tyler Hicks, got him interested in photojournalism and after graduating, he worked as a photographer at a number of newspapers. He joined Getty Images in 2001. Platt’s work has appeared in such publications as Time, Newsweek, Stern, Paris Match and the Los Angeles Times. He has won numerous awards for his work throughout the world including POYi and the NPPA Year in Pictures, for work in Liberia and Albania. In 2006, Platt received the coveted World Press Photo of the Year award.
