Alice Martins is an independent photojournalist reporting on armed conflict and humanitarian crises since 2012 in Gaza, Syria, Iraq and Ukraine. She is currently based in Damascus.
Born in 1980 and raised by the Atlantic ocean in southern Brazil, she started photographing with a Kodak Instamatic camera in 1989.
Her work has been featured on GEO, Harper's, TIME, The Smithsonian, Stern and Der Spiegel, among other publications. She is a frequent contributor to The Washington Post.
