Jes Aznar is a documentary photographer and photojournalist, currently based in Manila, the Philippines, whose work focuses on Asia and the Pacific.
After working for Agence France-Presse, Aznar dedicated years to document Mindanao in the Philippines, in which he was nearly killed in the wake of the Ampatuan Massacre in 2009, where 58 people were assassinated, including 37 journalists, in one day.
Aznar is a regular contributor to The New York Times and Getty Images. He is the founder of EverydayImpunity, an Instagram initiative documenting the Philippine drug war's culture of impunity and the aftermath of extrajudicial killings.
Aznar studied Photojournalism at the Konrad Adenauer Stiftung-Ateneo de Manila College for Journalism, and Conflict Sensitive Journalism at the the Deutsche Welle Akademie in Berlin, Germany.
