The World Press Photo Foundation renews its worldwide partner

The World Press Photo Foundation is pleased to announce the renewal of its worldwide partnership with the Dutch Postcode Lottery, while also saying farewell to Canon as a worldwide partner.

The Dutch Postcode Lottery (Nationale Postcode Loterij or NPL) has renewed its worldwide partnership with World Press Photo for another five years, commencing in 2019, with a total commitment of €2,500,000. NPL has been a valued partner since 2004 and its continued support for the foundation’s mission is greatly appreciated.

The foundation wishes to thank Canon Europe for a 27-year partnership that is now coming to an end. After a review of both parties’ strategies, the partnership will end on 31 December 2018.

Lars Boering, managing director of the World Press Photo Foundation, said:
The foundation is a non-profit, charitable organization, and all our revenues support our mission. We are a social enterprise that generates nearly two-thirds of our revenue, and the support of major partners such as NPL is important to enable our programs and outreach to flourish. We appreciate the important contribution Canon has made over the last quarter century, and are pleased to have collaborated on the common goal of supporting the visual storytelling industry.

Alessandro Stanzani, Executive Vice President of Imaging Technologies & Communication Group, Canon Europe said:
We are extremely proud of the work we have accomplished in collaboration with World Press Photo over the past 27 years. Canon Europe will continue to recognise the importance of photo and video journalists who go above-and-beyond to tell the stories that need to be told and we remain fully committed to visual storytelling and our role in nurturing the next generation.

The World Press Photo Foundation believes in the power of showing and the importance of seeing high quality visual journalism, and will continue connecting the world to the stories that matter.

About The World Press Photo Foundation

We are a global platform connecting professionals and audiences through trustworthy visual journalism and storytelling. Founded in 1955 when a group of Dutch photographers organized a contest to share their work with an international audience, the competition has grown into the world’s most prestigious photography award and our mission has expanded. We encourage diverse accounts of the world that present stories with different perspectives. We exhibit those stories to a worldwide audience, educate the profession and the public on their making, and encourage debate on their meaning.

The World Press Photo Foundation is an independent, nonprofit organization, based in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. We receive support from the Dutch Postcode Lottery and are sponsored worldwide by Canon.
