Maria joined EPA in 2007. Previously, she was the director of global current events at Corbis, Paris, director of photography for the Americas at Agence France-Presse (AFP), and then international photo editor-in-chief for AFP in Paris.
Mann was a member of the IAPA/Knight Foundation Workshops for Advanced Journalism in Latin America, and has taught in Lithuania, at the Pentagon Military Workshops, and in China.
She has co-curated exhibitions and is co-producer of an e-learning module on visual language for the Poynter Institute. Maria has judged photography competitions for UNICEF, Belarus Photos of the Year, Bayeux War Correspondents, PoY, and CHIPP in China.
Her previous involvement with World Press Photo has been extensive; she has been a member of the contest jury on two earlier occasions, was a tutor at World Press Photo workshops in Turkey, and sat on the Joop Swart Masterclass selection committee in 2012.
