Oldrich Karasek (1939-2006) studied photography at the Prague School of Graphic Arts. He became a photojournalist and became well known for his photos of celebrities. He was sometimes described as one of the first Czech paparazzi. After winning an honorable mention in the 1965 World Press Photo contest and several other international photo awards, Karasek joined the Italian agency Vita Press. In 1968, he briefly moved to the United States, where he photographed the launch of the Apollo 11 mission to the moon. In 1989, he became a freelance photographer began travelling around the world specializing in photographing ... places on earth. Oldrich Karasek was killed on a trip in Uganda in 2006.
