Arianna Rinaldo

She is also the curator of photography for PhEST in 2018, a festival of art on the Mediterranean in Monopoli, Italy. In 2014 she was appointed guest artistic director for DOCfield, the documentary photography festival in Barcelona.

Arianna’s relationship with photography started in 1998 in New York, as Archive Director at Magnum Photos. She moved back to Italy in 2001, working as picture editor for Colors magazine she commissioned international photographers to produce documentary and research projects around the world.

Based in Milan from 2004 to 2011, Arianna was a freelance curator for exhibitions and book projects, and a photo consultant for publications, including four years at D, the weekend supplement of one of Italy’s main daily, La Repubblica. She collaborated with publishing houses for special projects, and was a regular participant in portfolio reviews and jury panels worldwide, as well as a speaker and lecturer. She was also the director of OjodePez magazine, the bilingual documentary photography quarterly published by LaFabrica, Madrid, for seven years.

Living in Barcelona since 2012, Arianna continues to develop photography projects at an international level, and teaches workshops, explores photo festivals, and is intrigued by photographic storytelling.

She was a jury member of World Press Photo Contest in 2009.
