Wu Fang

Wu Fang is an independent photographer and former contributing photographer for Reuters, AFP, AP and Getty Images. He previously served as director of the photography departments at Xin’an Evening News and Hefei Evening News.

He has reported on major national and international events, including the National People’s Congress, the Wenchuan Earthquake, the conflict in North Burma, the Beijing Olympic Games, and FIFA World Cups in South Africa, Brazil, and Russia.

Wu Fang is a member of the China Photographers Association and serves as the secretary-general of the Theme Creation Committee of the Anhui Provincial Photographers Association.
His work has been widely recognised. He has received multiple bronze medals and jury recommendations at the 21st, 22nd, 24th and 25th National Photographic Art Exhibitions; his work was selected for the 16th and 18th International Photographic Art Exhibitions. He has won the Anhui News Award five times and the International News Photography ‘Huasai’ Award seven times. In 2016, he was named among the ‘Xu Xiaobing’ photographers and included in the Xu Xiaobing China Documentary Photography Exhibition. In 2021, his work received the 78th Global Picture of the Year Award (POYi) and the Golden Wave Award at the 10th Annual Taiwan–Hainan Photojournalism Competition.
