Yasir Iqbal is a photojournalist from Kashmir, India. After studying tourism, he began his career in photography in 2007 when he joined a local newspaper, developing his practice after initially pursuing drawing and portrait sketching.
Over the past decade, he has worked with a range of national and international publications. His photographs have appeared in outlets including The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times Lens Blog and WirtschaftsWoche. After a brief stint with Reuters, he has worked for organisations such as The Telegraph, Fortune India, India Today, and Business Today.
He previously served as Deputy Chief Photographer at India Today magazine before leaving the position in 2022 to work independently. He is currently based in Kashmir and works as a consultant photographer for Outlook India magazine.
